Do Affirmations Work?

I recently heard a comment claiming that affirmations don’t work.
In fact I often get asked that same question through my travels,

“Do affirmations really work?”

Of course they do!

Unfortunately, most people do NOT understand how the mind works, or how the conscious and subconscious mind work to create our reality.

Let me clarify.

An affirmation is often “called” different things by different people,

For example:
• Goals
• Goal statements
• Intentions
• Intention statements
• Action Plans
• etc.

All of these things are “affirmations”

In fact, even if you’ve never read a “self-help” book in your life, you’ve been using “affirmations” every day of your life.
How ?

ANYTHING you think about more than once is an “affirmation” as far as your mind is concerned:-
• If you go to work every day, THAT’s an affirmation to your subconscious mind.
• If you drive carefully to avoid an accident, THAT’S an affirmation to your subconscious mind.
• Do you think about brushing your teeth every day?

You probably don’t give it TOO much thought, but that’s an affirmation also.

Sure, we call them other things, like “habits”, “responsibilities”, etc. but at their core, they are affirmations i.e. “subconscious programming”

For example the simple thought process of:
“I need to go to the supermarket soon” quickly becomes an affirmation.

You probably thought of it:
• first, when you noticed you were getting low on food or drinks (consciously)
• second, when you AGAIN made the decision to actually go to the store (consciously)
• thirdly, the entire time you were on your way to the store (subconsciously or consciously)
• fourth, while you doing the actually shopping (subconsciously)
• fifth, whenever you were using the product knowing someday you would need to buy more of it (subconsciously and consciously) .

So with all the various programs out there, you’ve probably read testimonials of people having great success with affirmations.

And yet, many of you try (there’s that word “try”) affirmations with little or no success.

“Why didn’t affirmations work for me?” you find yourself asking. “They seem to work for others”

In fact, it’s BECAUSE affirmations work so well that affirmations didn’t work for you…

That’s right, affirmations didn’t work for you because you had previous MORE POWERFUL affirmations ALREADY implanted in your mind working AGAINST you.

Perhaps, you made an affirmation of “I make $100,000 a year” and after a couple of months of mindlessly repeating it, you finally gave up in frustration at your still lacking financial situation.

Has this been your experience? If so, don’t feel bad.

You probably didn’t realize that you had subconscious programming with “deep roots” from affirmations you received as a little child and every day since.

Most likely, you heard your parents saying something like
“We don’t have enough money for that”
“Were not rich like the ………………….”
“Money is the root of all evil”
”Don’t be greedy”

As a little child, you accepted that “affirmation” from your parents, teachers, friends, society, etc as “truth”. Your subconscious mind didn’t know any better and, at the time, neither did your conscious mind.

The REAL secret to using affirmations effectively is letting go of past programming (negative affirmations) that PREVENT your goals WHILE implanting new, more effective, power-filled affirmations that will take “root” immediately and grow into the desired outcome YOU WANT over and over again like clock work.

To understand how affirmations work, let’s imagine our thoughts and reality like a garden.

Every thought is a seed which can grow into beautiful orange or lemon tree. Or perhaps you prefer to have rose bushes or daisies.

In any case, you can “grow” whatever plant you want by simply planting a seed.

Just like any garden, you have to diligently look out for the weeds of negative thoughts and unwanted circumstances growing in with the lemon trees and rose bushes.

And when you’re planting new “positive” seeds, you have to be extra careful of the negative weeds choking out the desired plants and ensuring they grow big and strong.

But also consider this.

Most of us have let many of those weeds grow into full grown thriving plants. Sure we know they are there but we really only pay attention to them when we finally decide to grow the plants WE DESIRE instead of looking at what was placed their randomly by the winds of life.

So let me ask you, wouldn’t it be smart to dig up the unwanted weeds so that all of our desired “thought plants” grew up nice and strong?

“So what’s the solution ?”

The ability to plant positive affirmations into your subconscious mind while “letting go” of negative subconscious patterns that have prevented us from creating the lives we desire.

And that’s exactly what it is… letting go. So write a list of what you believe has held you back in the past, re-read it, add to it, acknowledge it … and then just burn the damn thing.
We are now ready to start afresh
